A night at the Dhaba - Sach Pass

Published on 19 Mar 2020

While returning back from Sach Pass in the evening, we planned to pitch our tent on the satrundi helipad. We got all the permissions from the checkpost. But unfortunately we faced a heavy storm and rain so had to cancel our plan to spend a night on helipad.

On check post, by army, we were suggested not to go down further because there may be landslide and it's risky to drive in rain on this terrain. So we planned to stay in the Dhaba situated right on the satrundi checkpost. Army at the checkpost invited us to the bonfire to keep ourself warm. Dhaba owner provided us food, water and warm bedding. It was cold, windy and rainy night.

Even inside the warm beddings few of us were shivering including me because we were drenched in the rain. For me it was one the most adventurous night. I was not sure if I will make it till morning without catching cold or fever.

But as the night passed by, after a stormy night, morning was completely opposite; warm, sunny and full of colours. Scenery along side the road was nothing less than a painting. And guess what, I had no fever no cold.

All thanks to the Dhaba owner who provided us the food, water, bed and a shelter to stay in the stormy night inside in the lap of beautiful Himalayan hills. That night and the whole Sach Pass trip was hard to forget.
